It is located in and surrounded by the 1,000,000 acre Pike National Forest. With Pike’s Peak hovering in the distance, and visible from nearly anywhere in town, Woodland park is great for year around fun and outdoor ventures!

NEARBY TRAIL HIKES
A countless number of trails exist in Woodland Park & surrounding areas! Here are a few close-by favorites!
Mule Creek - Easy, flat single-track trail. 6.0 mile out-and-back.Follows along Trout Creek & Mule Creek. Great for all ages, just turn back whenever you wish!
Ramphart Reservoir Trail - Relatively easy 10 mile loop that follows the shoreline of Rampart Reservoir.Very scenic.
Rainbow Gulch Trail that leads to Ramphart Reservoir - 3.5 mile, well maintained out-and-back trail. Easy. Great for all ages.We have used a trail stroller on it too!The road getting to it & parking is a bit terrible though.
Red Rocks State Park - Cool, quiet escape. Lots of aspens & ponderosa pines insight! Easy & fun hike.There is a 3 mile loop.The rocks & unique terrain arrive about 1 mile in & children love to explore/climb on the rocks!
Manitou Park Lake Trail - 2.4 mile loop.Easy, flat trail, takes about 40 minutes to complete.Stroller friendly!Great for all ages! Dogs welcome, but must be on a leash.Great views of Pike’s Peak. Great picnic spots and areas as well.$8 entrance fee to park.
Catamount Falls Trail - 6.4 mile out-and-back trail.Moderately Challenging.1,971 ft elevation gain. Beautiful trail with 3 scenic waterfalls stemming from Pikes Peak Mountain and the turn around point is at a big reservoir.Park down in the town of Green Mountain Falls and then walk up a road to the trailhead - which is about 1 mile uphill.One of our favorite hikes!
Manitou Incline - 4.0 mile Loop trail. Popular area. Dog are not allowed on this trail. Must make a free reservation to enter - can do this online. The incline is the remains of the Cog railway that went to the top of Manitou Mountain. Trail gains about 2000 ft of elevation in ~ 1 mile. “Imagine climbing a rough uneven set of stairs that’s a mile long”. Once you reach the top you hike back down Barr Trail (do not hike back down the incline - not allowed/recommended). Amazing view from the top
Bald Mountain Loop via Kings Crown Road - 4.0 miles loop trail. Moderately challenging.Enjoyable for hiking or running.Sometimes easy to ‘loose the trail’, so download map. Dogs welcome on a leash.
Crags Trail - Moderately challenging route.Out-and-back 5.0 miles."The Crags” are stunning features with areas of vertical granite rock slabs protruding into colossal vertical pillars.Well marked trail. Great views in all directions at the peak!
Lovell Gulch - Moderately challenging, 5.4 mile loop.Great panoramic views from the top, keep an eye out for mule deer & little caves along the way!
Garden of the Gods - Designated as a National Natural Landmark, the park is known for towering red sandstone formations and great views of Pikes Peak. 6 different hiking trail options, spanning from easy to moderate and 1/2 mile to 2.5 mile hikes. Great for all ages. Also has a great visitor center.
Red Rocks Canyon Open Space & Hiking Trails - 1/474 acre city park. 11 marked trails, ranging from 1.7-5.4 miles. Trails of all levels. Park consists of parallel red rock ridges (hogbacks) and eroded canyons, a continuation of the same sandstone rocks of Garden of the Gods
